Home --> Beware Email Scams

Please be aware of the following circumstances which occur and be familiar so you can alert the bank if you are experiencing this or have questions.

FDIC has warned banks and consumers of fraudulent emails claiming to be from the FDIC.  The email is purportedly from security at fdic.com and the subject is fraud report.  The email says the recipient's bank account has been temporarily closed because of fraudulent activity and requests the recipient to review an embedded file for details about the account and information to contact the FDIC.

The email is likely a fraudulent attempt to implant a virus in the consumer's computer or to obtain personal information.  Banks and consumers should not access the link or files attached to the email and should not provide any personal information to unknown sources.

Secondly, noted in the newspaper recently was an article about people calling consumers and identifying themselves as social security administration personnel.  They claimed that the Social Security Administration's computers had glitches and needed to know the amount of their check(s), if direct deposit or not, and when they received it; they also wanted pertinent account information.

Farmers Bank & Savings Co. wants our customers to be  constantly on alert to this type of fraud.  Never give out account information to unknown sources. If you ever have a question, call or stop in one of our convenient locations and ask any of our knowledgable Customer Support Representatives.

Helping to keep you safe from theft and fraud.  Just one more reason that Farmers is Your Bank For Life!
